Yarn steaming is a process for treating yarn. Yarn steaming is a process of putting yarn into a yarn steamer and heating and wet-heating the yarn through the action of steam. The main principle of yarn steaming is to use the heat and wet-heat effect of steam to change the structure and performance of the yarn. In a high temperature and high humidity environment, the fibers in the yarn will undergo changes in morphology and crystallization, and the bonding force between the fibers will be enhanced, making the yarn smoother, softer and more uniform.
The main purpose of yarn steaming is to improve and stabilize the physical properties of the yarn through steam treatment. Specifically, it has the following functions:
1. Eliminate stress inside the yarn: After spinning, winding and other processing processes, stress will accumulate inside the yarn. Yarn steaming can release it evenly, thereby reducing the deformation and shrinkage of the yarn during subsequent weaving or knitting.
2. Stabilize the twist of the yarn: Keep the twist uniform and stable, and improve the quality and weavability of the yarn.
3. Increase the softness and smoothness of the yarn: Improve the feel and surface properties of the yarn, reduce friction, and facilitate subsequent processing and use.
4. Improve the moisture regain of yarn: make it reach the appropriate humidity level, which helps to improve the strength and toughness of yarn.
5. Improve the dyeing performance of yarn: make the dye easier to penetrate and adsorb evenly, improve the quality and effect of dyeing.
Yarn steaming is usually carried out in a special yarn steaming equipment, by controlling the temperature, pressure and processing time of steam parameters to achieve the ideal yarn setting effect. This process is widely used in the textile industry, especially for high-quality yarn products such as high-end fabrics, knitwear, etc.
